Our story
Ember & Oak opened in 2019 in Chicago's West Loop with a straightforward conviction: good food starts with proximity. We built our kitchen around a live-fire hearth and a simple promise to source every ingredient within 200 miles of Randolph Street.
The wood-fire philosophy shapes everything we do — not as a gimmick, but as a craft. What comes off that fire reflects the discipline it takes to truly understand heat.
We're not a special-occasion restaurant, though we've hosted a fair few. We're the kind of place you come to on a Tuesday because you want something real. Sit at the bar, order a cocktail, and watch the kitchen work. We built the room for that.
